QBE, The Results Companies Off to Early Leads in Volleyball Tournament
QBE and The Results Companies ruled in their divisions in the 2017 BPO Classics Volleyball Tournament over the weekend to top their respective team standings two weeks into the season.
Four-time reigning men’s division champions The Results Companies prevailed against the gallant effort of Stellar BPO, 25-21, 25-23, 25-21 during a six-game slate for their second straight win this season.
James Alayon had 14 points on 11 attacks and two service aces for the defending champions.
Last year’s runner-up, Teleperformance, also picked up a win after beating EXL in four sets, 25-20, 25-15, 18-25, 25-19. Jason John Dimaano led Teleperformance with 15 points including two blocks.
In the women’s side, QBE won their second straight match in dominant fashion, manhandling Alere, 25-6, 25-12, 25-14 to headline three straight sets victories in the division.
Maricar Martinez finished with 21 points on 19 spikes and two aces to star in the three-game schedule.
In other results, Teleperformance swept Capital One, 25-9, 25-17, 25-12 behind nine points from Francesca Crescini while Ring Central defeated Ingram Micro, 25-21, 28-26, 25-15 with Trisha Tupayan’s 11 markers leading the way.
In other men’s results, Accenture, Alere, QBE, and VXI all secured victories against their foes.
Accenture defeated Ingram Micro in four sets. Accenture took the first two frames easily before dropping the third set. Fortunately, they were able to recover to end it in the next set, 25-17, 25-15, 23-25, 25-21.
Kevin Chu was the topscorer, as he notched 17 points on 14 attacks and two aces.
Alere toppled AMMEX, bouncing back from a slow start to take the next three sets, 18-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-13. Jervy Alvarez had 13 points including five aces.
QBE and VXI both had straight set wins. QBE swept Ring Central, 25-13, 25-9, 25-14 with Roland Macahia’s 13 points including a whopping eight aces leading the charge.
VXI made quick work of Capital One, 25-15, 25-16, 25-19 as Mark Jay Puno scored 13 points.
