MANILA, Philippines – A-Team and Gerry’s Grill are one step away from the Women’s Next5Hoops championship as both teams have booked their spots in the Finals by routing their respective counterparts in the crossover semi-final phase on Sunday, January 31 at Asia Pacific College gymnasium in Makati City.
A-Team trounced Knight Crawlers with a 71-66 victory to claim the first seat in the knockout championship round.
Charmaine Natural had a monstrous performance for A-Team, grabbing a double-double output of 26 points and 16 rebounds to come along with two assists and one steal.
Meanwhile, Fille Claudine Cainglet produced good numbers for A-Team as well, bombarding Knight Crawlers with 17 markers, seven boards, four dimes and two steals.
Despite the losing effort, Knight Crawlers were led by Anna Marika Iida, who dished a game-high of 35 points and amassed 15 rebounds.
On the other hand, Gerry’s Grill edged Mixers with a 62-54 triumph to secure a Finals date with A-Team.
Both Aileen Balmatero and Chovi Borja finished with double-double feats, combining 25 points and 24 rebounds.
The hapless Mixers relied on consistent skippers Melody Cac and Karen Columna, who hauled 14 and 13 markers for their squadron.
