Teletech Goes 3-0; Yondu, Converga Gets First Wins

Teletech continued to step on the gas to stay undefeated while Yondu and Converga joined the winner’s circle in 2018 BPO Classics Recreational Division over the weekend at the Phenom Sports Center.

Unstoppable on its attack, Teletech demolished Ubiquity, 61-38, for its third straight victory in the tournament organized by One Unite Sports & Events, Inc.

Teletech had a strong start but it was in the third quarter when it truly asserted its might with a 19-6 blast to push the lead to as big as 23 points against Ubiquity.

Teletech drew solid contributions from the entire team but it was Carlos Deo Magalona and John Paul Tuazon who finished with 16 and 12, respectively.

Ubiquity failed to follow up its opening victory and dropped to 1-1.

Meanwhile, Capital One picked up its second win after dropping Digital Room, 79-39.

It was a complete demolition from the get-go with Capital One thoroughly outscoring Digital Room, 60-20 in the first three quarters.

Digital Room, which slid to 1-2, managed to match Capital One’s output in the fourth period with 19, but the run was too late to make an impact.

Kim Comia exploded for 21 points that went with 10 rebounds and two steals while Gian Hidalgo added 16 points and six rebounds off the bench for Capital One.

In Sunday’s games also at Phenom Sports Center, both Yondu and Converga went through the wringer to nab their first win in the Recreational Division.

Yondu survived a late rally against Telstra for the 61-58 victory.

From an 11-point lead to start the fourth, Yondu slowly gave in to Telstra, who managed to within just one with still over two minutes to play.

But Royce Agustin made sure Yondu kept its lead with a basketball in the ensuing play before Andrew Bueser scored his first points with .23 ticks left to seal the victory.

Agustin finished with a game-high 29 points for Yondu, which improved to 1-1.

Converga, meanwhile, beat QBE, 76-74, on a game-winner from Allan Pedrosa.

Pedrosa, who wound up with 20 big points and six boards, made the go-ahead with 20 seconds remaining to lift Converga to its first win in three tries.

Christopher Conde topscored for Converga with 21 points along with seven boards while Vito Guacena chipped in 15 markers.
