Accenture, SBO end slumps; Teleperformance stuns Concentrix

Streaks and skids ended after last weekend’s thrilling games in the 2018 BPO Classics Competitive Division at the Phenom Sports Center in Makati.

Accenture and Shell Business Operations finally broke out of their respective slump while Teleperformance dealt Concentrix a shocker in the tournament organized by One Unite Sports & Events, Inc.

Accenture halted a three-game losing skid and defeated Optum Global Solutions, 73-64.

Thanks for a blazing 20-8 first quarter, Accenture had a big enough lead to fend off Optum Global Solutions especially in the payoff period shootout where it was outscored, 24-28.

Mark Zaballa led Accenture with 14 points off the bench while Steven Camaya and Jigo Oliveros added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Accenture improved to 2-3 while Optum Global Solutions slipped to 1-3.

Shell Business Operations, meanwhile, finally barged into the win column at the expense of SYKES Asia, 91-64.

There are no more winless teams in the tournament with SBO getting its first win after five tries, thanks largely to the scoring exploits of Jehrameel Laigo.

Laigo exploded for 27 points that went with eight rebounds, four assists and seven steals for SBO, which led by as much as 29 points.

Alexis Eusebio and Lester Ventic also did damage for SBO with 16 points each and 24 rebounds combined.

SYKES Asia dropped to the bottom of the standings with a 1-5 card.

In the weekend’s biggest upset, Teleperformance stayed unbeaten and handed Concentrix its first loss, 70-65.

Teleperformance used a 5-0 closing run on a triple from Edward Baluyot and a two from Irvin Gomez in the last two minutes to break away from 65-all and seal its 3-0 card.

Four players finished in double digits for Teleperformance with Mario Maglinao showing the way with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Gomez added 15 points and five assists, Juancho Calma 14 rebounds and Baluyot with 12 markers.

Concentrix remained among the top performers with a 4-1 card.

ARMCO, though, stayed on top after a 90-67 demolishing of Wells Fargo.

ARMCO zoomed to 4-0 with its balanced and unrelenting attack, not scoring lower than 18 points in all of the quarters.

In the lead for ARMCO was Charles Capisonda, who unleashed a game-best 22 points but four others also wound up in double-digit scoring.
