SCMC, SCiP Stay on Track; COMCON, G-Unit Rack Up Wins

SCMC-ARA and SCiP stay in the winner’s circle for the second straight week in the Next5Hoops Corporate Division.

COMCON and G-Unit also racked up wins last March 19 at Asia Pacific College in Makati.

G-Unit bounced back with a 62-55 stunning of frontrunner Artesyn.

It led by as much 24 points early in the third quarter, getting enough cushion to withstand Artesyn’s 19-10 payoff period attack.

Cyd Marcelino topscored for G-Unit, which only utilized seven players, with 20 markers while hauling down 12 rebounds.

G-Unit was coming off an 77-84 loss to SCMC-ARA the week before.

SCMC-ARA came away with another close victory, this time a 58-50 win over Cement Mixers.

Despite leading from start to finish, SCMC-ARA couldn’t build a lead bigger than 14 points and held on to the win down the stretch.

Chris Frias stood out with 23 points built on seven triples that went along with three rebounds and two assists while Ricardo Sison and Andrew Felix had 10 each.

SCiP, meanwhile, cruised to an 80-42 triumph over Vertiv.

SCiP dominated in all aspects of the game, from rebounds (60-49), assists (20-5), steals (13-7) to points in the paint (48-18) and fastbreak points (20-4).

Scoring was scattered among the players but Stephen Enario led SCiP with 20 markers along with nine boards while Billy Madero added 14 points and six dimes.

Likewise, Comcon trumped Emerson, 73-58.

With a whopping 18-0 edge in second chance points, Comcon turned a tied game early in the third quarter to a lead as big as 18 with 8:11 to go.

Emerson managed to come within seven points with under five minutes to play, but that was the closest Comcon would let them.

Karlo Realuyo unleashed 21 points and 12 rebounds for Comcon while Alexis Martinez and Tony Toh contributed 11 markers apiece.
